Sri Lanka, May 12 -- The Department of Meteorology forecasts a slight increase in rainfall in the southwestern part of the island from this evening (12th) onwards.

Several spells of rain are possible in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thunderstorms may occur in isolated areas in the Central, Uva, and Eastern Provinces after 1:00 PM.

The Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Southern Provinces may experience occasional gusty winds of around 30-40 kmph.

The Department of Meteorology urges the public to take necessary precautions to minimise the risks associated with temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur during thunderstorms.
