Sri Lanka, July 10 -- The Water Supply Board has temporarily stopped drawing water from the Singimale Reservoir in Hatton.

This decision comes after a school student tragically drowned in the reservoir on July 9.

Following the incident, the Ambagamuwa Regional Medical Officer of Health and his team inspected the reservoir today (10).

The inspection revealed that the water from the Singimale Reservoir is currently not suitable for drinking.

Authorities have decided to obtain water from an alternative source, purify it, and then supply limited drinking water to consumers until the issue is resolved.
