Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- The National Water Supply and Drainage Board is asking people in the Hambantota district to use water sparingly due to the ongoing dry weather, which may lead to a restriction in the drinking water supply in some areas.

According to the board's regional engineer for Hambantota, Jagath Swarnalal, the continuous dry conditions have caused water levels to drop in the reservoirs used for drinking water, making it impossible to provide an uninterrupted supply to certain areas.

He also mentioned that due to high water consumption, the board has already started distributing drinking water via bowsers to these areas.
