Sri Lanka, Feb. 5 -- The National Water Supply and Drainage Board announced that steps will be taken to reduce water charges in the future.

Chairman Deeptha Samarasekara stated that while the reduction may not match the scale of recent electricity bill cuts, the Board is focused on providing relief to the public.

A committee was recently appointed to assess the possibility of lowering water charges. The Chairman further stated that the report is expected within the week, after which it will be submitted to the relevant minister, and the percentage of the reduction will be announced.
