Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- The Deputy Minister of Public Security Sunil Watagala, has denied allegations circulating on social media that he purchased a luxury residence at the Cinnamon Life complex.

In a statement on his official Facebook page, Watagala dismissed the claims as false and part of a 'coordinated smear campaign against him.

He stressed that all his assets have been properly declared and linked the allegations to his recent efforts to expose alleged drug trafficking networks.

The Deputy Minister Watagala said he is preparing to lodge a formal complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and will pursue legal action to seek damages from those responsible for spreading the false information.
