Sri Lanka, Jan. 1 -- Kalutara North Police arrested a 27-year-old man who attempted to smuggle four types of narcotics worth over Rs. 400,000 to an inmate at the Kalutara Prison.

The illegal substances were ingeniously concealed inside a Vaseline bottle.

During the search, police seized 9,130 mg of heroin, 5,990 mg of "ICE", 6,670 mg of powdered intoxicant pills, and 4,040 mg of an unidentified powdered drug found in the suspect's possession.

The arrest followed a tip-off from the Superintendent of Kalutara Prison.

A team led by Sub-Inspector W. M. L. C. Wanninayake of the Crimes Investigation Division inspected the items brought by the visitor and discovered the hidden stash.
