Sri Lanka, May 14 -- Residents of Wadiyatenna in Hemmathagama have collaboratively apprehended a 71-year-old individual, who they allege has been involved in drug trafficking in the area for 27 years.

Using an undercover operative, the villagers meticulously planned and captured the suspect before handing him over to the Kegalle Police.

Tensions arose at the scene when Hemmathagama police arrived, with residents accusing them of inaction on previous complaints.

Despite informing the Hemmathagama police on several occasions about the suspect's alleged drug dealing, villagers claim no proper action was taken.
