Sri Lanka, May 30 -- The Venerable Bandarawela Amithananda Thero, who was renonwed for his sermons, passed away on May 29 at the Colombo National Hospital.

He was 62 years old at the time of his demise.

Venerable Amithananda Thero had been in ill health for a prolonged period and had been receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital for nearly a year and a half.

Dr. Rukshan Bellana, Deputy Director of the hospital, confirmed his passing.

The Ven. Thero's remains are expected to be placed at the Dompe Kalyana Dharmashrama.
