Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- A vendor was fined Rs 10,000 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Pavithra Sanjeewani Pathirana today (10) for displaying body lotions and vitamins for sale without proper import information.
The suspect was arrested during a raid conducted by the Consumer Affairs Authority based on a tip. The fine was imposed on the owner of a store on Second Cross Street, Colombo 11.
During the hearing, investigating officers explained that according to Directive No. 85, all importers, manufacturers, distributors, and vendors must clearly label their products.
The final packaging of any product sold at retail price must visibly include the maximum retail price, weight or volume, date of manufacture, expiration date or last suitable...
