Sri Lanka, March 31 -- Vegetable suppliers anticipate a further decrease in prices as the Sinhala New Year approaches, driven by an increased supply as farmers release more of their harvest to the market.
Despite the overall decline, the prices of beans and carrots remain high, with the wholesale price of a kilogram of carrots exceeding Rs. 550 by the end of the past week. Suppliers noted that beans were also sold at a wholesale price of around Rs. 500.
Meanwhile, the prices of several other vegetables, including leeks, beetroot, cabbage, and pumpkin, continue to remain low.
