Sri Lanka, Oct. 16 -- Heavy damage was reported to a parked Dolphin van and a nearby house in the Norwood area yesterday (15), following a lightning strike that occurred during heavy rainfall.
One person inside the house fell due to the shock and sustained injuries.
The injured person was later admitted to the Dickoya Hospital.
Residents reported that the lightning struck a large Eucalyptus tree near where the van was parked, at approximately 5:00 PM, and the charge then extended to the van and the house.
Residents also stated that the lightning strike caused an immediate power cut across the entire Norwood area.
The area has been experiencing heavy rain, exceeding 100 mm, in recent days.
