Sri Lanka, Jan. 10 -- Card payment systems for bus fares are being launched in the Uva Province as part of the government's national digitalisation initiative.
The Ministry of Digital Economy introduced the system during an awareness program involving bank representatives and bus owners affiliated with the Uva Provincial Road Passenger Transport Authority.
During the session, bus owners received detailed information regarding the benefits and logistical ease of implementing digital payment methods for passengers.
Operators agreed to equip all buses under the provincial authority with bank card payment facilities within the coming months.
