Sri Lanka, Aug. 16 -- The USS Santa Barbara, a ship belonging to the US Navy, has arrived at Colombo Port.

The Sri Lanka Navy officially welcomed the ship with traditional naval honours.

The USS Santa Barbara, which is 127.6 metres long, is a part of the US 7th Fleet, the world's largest forward-deployed naval force.

This marks the ship's first visit to Sri Lanka.

The purpose of the visit is to fulfil supply and service requirements.

During their stay, the crew will visit several places on the island.

The ship is scheduled to depart on August 22.
