Sri Lanka, April 18 -- International ratings agency Fitch is warning that increased US tariffs will negatively impact the creditworthiness of many countries in the Asia-Pacific region, with Sri Lanka also in potential danger. Fitch Ratings predicts that lower global growth, weaker commodity prices, and currency fluctuations will have varying degrees of impact on different Asia-Pacific nations.While a weaker local currency might slightly offset the impact of US tariffs on price competitiveness, it could also worsen debt burdens for countries with significant foreign currency debt, including Sri Lanka.Fitch also cautions that foreign exchange reserves could decline if countries intervene to support their currencies.This could be particularl...
