Sri Lanka, July 11 -- The US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung, has agreed to provide a quantity of essential medicines and surgical equipment to Sri Lanka from donors in the United States.
This commitment was made during a meeting yesterday (10) with Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa at the Ministry of Health and Mass Media.
During the discussion, Minister Jayatissa informed Ambassador Chung about a special programme being implemented to overcome occasional medicine shortages within the government hospital system.
He also highlighted efforts to secure essential medicines for Sri Lanka through government-to-government discussions.
