Sri Lanka, May 17 -- All train journeys originating from Badulla have been suspended since last night (16) due to the ongoing token strike by the Railway Station Masters' Union.

The 6:30 PM mail train from Badulla to Colombo Fort was forced to return to Uduwara railway station upon news of the strike action.

A railway spokesperson confirmed that passengers on board were refunded their ticket fares.

Currently, five trains, including the Udarata Manike, Podi Menike, the mail train and the Calypso tourist train are stationed at the Badulla railway station, the final stop on the upcountry railway line.
