SriLanka, Jan. 12 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa marked his 59th birthday today (12) with a religious ceremony at the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple, notably joined by high-ranking members of the United National Party (UNP).

The event signals a rare public show of unity between the leadership of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and his former party, the UNP.

Accompanied by his wife, Jalani Premadasa, the Opposition Leader participated in several Buddhist rituals to invoke blessings.

UNP Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene and UNP National Organiser Sagala Ratnayaka were also in attendance.

A large contingent of SJB seniors and parliamentarians also gathered at the temple to support their leader.
