Sri Lanka, Aug. 14 -- United National Party MP Navin Dissanayake has called on Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe to resign from the Cabinet, for violating the principle of collective responsibility by publicly contradicting a statement made by Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya.

The Prime Minister had said in Parliament that no government funds were spent on the Supreme SAT project and that it had brought a significant amount of money to the Board of Investment.

However, Minister Samarasinghe publicly contradicted this statement the following day, saying the Prime Minister's remarks were inaccurate and that she had been given incorrect data.
