Sri Lanka, Aug. 22 -- The United National Party's (UNP) media unit has released a copy of the official invitation letter sent by the University of Wolverhampton to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and his wife, Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe.

The UNP claims the letter proves the former President did not misuse state funds for a trip to the United Kingdom.Former President Wickremesinghe was arrested today (22) after arriving at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to provide a statement. His arrest is related to an investigation into the alleged misuse of government funds during his September 2023 trip to London.
