Sri Lanka, Aug. 29 -- The United National Party (UNP) has issued a directive stating that its members must receive prior approval from the party's General Secretary, Thalatha Athukorala, before participating in any media talk shows.

In an official statement, Ms Athukorala said that she will now be responsible for naming which party members will be allowed to appear on such programmes.

The statement also clarified that the party will not be held accountable for any comments made by those who participate in talk shows without the required approval.
