Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- The United National Party (UNP) Working Committee has decided to lift the party ban on its members who joined the Samagi Jana Janabalawegaya (SJB).
The decision was made at a meeting held yesterday (16) at the UNP headquarters in Pitakotte.
The meeting, led by UNP leader and former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, also resulted in the appointment of a committee to look into the legal implications of the decision.
That committee will be headed by former Attorney General and President's Counsel Tilak Marapana.
UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena stated that this move removes obstacles for members to reunite and work with the UNP.
