Sri Lanka, Sept. 2 -- The Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, Maria Tripodi, will be on an official visit to Sri Lanka from tomorrow (03) to the 05.

This will be the highest-level visit from Italy to Sri Lanka in nearly a decade.

During her visit, Undersecretary Tripodi will co-chair the inaugural session of the Sri Lanka-Italy Political Consultations with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Arun Hemachandra.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on establishing a political consultation mechanism is also set to be signed, which will provide a structured framework for dialogue between the two countries.
