Srilanka, Dec. 9 -- The Acting British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Theresa O'Mahony, travelled to the Gampaha District yesterday to meet communities severely affected by Cyclone Ditwah. Her visit focused on observing the UK-funded humanitarian relief efforts being carried out by the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society.
The United Kingdom has committed £1 million in initial humanitarian aid to assist the communities devastated by the disaster.
This substantial funding is designated for the provision of essential emergency supplies and life-saving support to those most in need.
During her time in Gampaha, the Acting High Commissioner inspected the Red Cross warehouse where the UK aid supplies are being readied for distribution.
