Srilanka, Dec. 3 -- The United Kingdom (UK) has formally handed over £675,000 in urgent humanitarian assistance to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vijitha Herath.

The aid was formally presented by the Acting British High Commissioner, Theresa O'Mahony, during a meeting with Minister Herath yesterday (02). O'Mahony reaffirmed the UK's commitment to helping Sri Lanka recover from the severe storm.

The vital funding will be channelled through humanitarian partners that are already working on the ground.

These include the Red Cross, various United Nations (UN) agencies, and local civil society organisations.
