Sri Lanka, Aug. 31 -- Following a ruling by the Thirappane Magistrate's Court, two suspects, arrested for illegally killing a deer in the Mihintale sanctuary, have been remanded until September 3.

The arrests were made following a tip-off received by the Thirappane Police about a lorry transporting firearms.

When searching for the vehicle, the police uncovered a firearm and 63 kilograms of deer meat.

According to sources, the suspects were part of a network that is poaching deer in the Mihintale sanctuary and distributed meat across various parts of the country.
