Sri Lanka, April 17 -- Two school students (both 16) are missing after drowning off the coast of Panadura.

They had been swimming in a group at Panadura beach yesterday afternoon (16).

Reports indicate that while family members were in one area, the two missing students were swimming in a different location.

The absence of the two boys was noticed as the group prepared to leave the beach.

An eyewitness said that one of the students had been swept away by a wave, and his friend who attempted to rescue him was also caught by the current.

Both boys were then swept out to sea.

One of the missing students was due to sit his Ordinary Level examinations this year.
