Sri Lanka, July 4 -- A development officer and a driver from the Peradeniya Pesticide Registrar's Office have been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
They were apprehended at the home of a businessman in Bandarawela after allegedly accepting a Rs. 10,000 bribe.
The bribe was solicited, reportedly for fuel for their vehicle, when they visited the businessman's home to register a business for the production of insecticides, fungicides, and plant growth hormones.
The arrested suspects are expected to be produced before the Bandarawela Magistrate's Court today (4).
