Sri Lanka, Aug. 29 -- The final rites for the two schoolgirls who died in the tragic road collision in Kuliyapitiya are scheduled to be held today (29) at the Dummalsuriya Kattimahana public cemetery.

The two victims were 12-year-old Rishini Nethupama Kularathna and 13-year-old Mihidi Senaya Nilnethu, both residents of the area.

The 67-year-old school van driver, who also died in the incident, was from the same locality.

The tipper truck driver involved in the incident was remanded until September 8 by the order of Kuliyapitiya Magistrate Randika Lakmal Jayalath.

Police informed the court that the 23-year-old suspect, a resident of Marawila Mudukatuwa, had reportedly been working for 24 hours without sleep.
