Sri Lanka, June 16 -- Two individuals have died in a road collision in the Koralaima area on the Colombo-Horana main road.

The incident occurred last night (15) while the women and two young girls were using a pedestrian crossing to attend a funeral home.

Police said the two girls, daughters of one of the deceased women, sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital.

The two women succumbed to their injuries shortly after being admitted.

Investigations revealed that the car involved in the collision was driven by a person under the influence of alcohol.

The driver has been arrested and is scheduled to be produced before the Horana Magistrate's Court today (16).
