Sri Lanka, Sept. 1 -- Padukka Police have arrested two individuals for stealing two gate leaves, valued at approximately Rs. 200,000, from a garden in the Bope area and selling them to two scrap metal shops to buy drugs.

According to police, the arrests were made following repeated complaints from residents about a series of ongoing thefts.

Investigations revealed that the suspects used a small lorry belonging to the father of one of the suspects to remove the gates from Bope and transport them to the Thunnana area.

The suspects were produced before the Homagama Magistrate's Court, where they pleaded guilty and were subsequently granted bail.
