Sri Lanka, July 12 -- Medical treatment continued yesterday (11) for tusker Bhatiya, who is suffering from a severe gunshot wound to its front right leg.

Professor Ashoka Dangolla, a veterinary specialist from the University of Peradeniya, stated that saving the elephant's life is proving difficult due to damage to its nervous system and muscle degeneration.

Meanwhile, wildlife officials launched a special operation a few days ago to locate and treat a 20-year-old tusker named "Yasa", whose home range is the Kala Wewa area, after observations revealed he had been shot.

Accordingly, Pandulagama wildlife officials clearly identified the area where the elephant was roaming yesterday.
