Srilanka, Dec. 26 -- A program to reactivate non-operational tsunami warning towers is underway, according to the Disaster Management Centre.

Disaster Management Centre Director General Retired Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda stated that the initiative will seek assistance from India.

Following the 2004 tsunami, authorities installed 77 warning towers along the coastal belt of Sri Lanka to provide public alerts. At present, every tower in this network remains inactive.
