Sri Lanka, May 14 -- U.S. President Donald Trump has begun his Gulf trip with a significant policy shift, announcing the lifting of long-standing U.S. sanctions on Syria.This announcement came alongside a USD 600 billion investment commitment from Saudi Arabia into the United States.The U.S. has also agreed to a substantial arms deal with Saudi Arabia, worth nearly USD 142 billion.The White House described the deal as the largest "defence cooperation agreement" ever made by Washington.
