Sri Lanka, Feb. 2 -- U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered sweeping tariffs on imports from Mexico, Canada, and China, demanding action to curb the flow of fentanyl and, in the case of Mexico and Canada, illegal immigration into the U.S.
In three executive orders, Trump imposed 25% tariffs on Mexican and most Canadian imports and 10% on goods from China, starting Tuesday. He stated the tariffs would remain until the national emergency over fentanyl and illegal immigration is resolved, without specifying conditions for their removal.
