Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- The Colombo High Court has set the trial against former Minister Wimal Weerawansa for October 22.
The case was filed by the Bribery Commission, which accuses him of failing to disclose how he acquired assets worth nearly Rs. 75 million while serving as a minister.
The case was called before Colombo High Court Judge Lanka Jayaratne today (17).
Wimal Weerawansa, who is out on bail, appeared in court.
His lawyer requested more time to study the case documents and was granted a new date for the trial.
The judge also instructed the witnesses who appeared in court today to be present on the next trial date.
