Sri Lanka, April 23 -- A senior disciplinary officer and a security officer from the Eastern Provincial Office of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) were apprehended yesterday (22), on bribery charges after allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.100,000.
The arrests followed a complaint lodged by a resident of Kantale.
The incident stems from a disciplinary inquiry initiated against a bus conductor from the Trincomalee depot, who was working on the Trincomalee-Vavuniya route.
Inspectors had penalised the conductor for not issuing a ticket to a passenger, leading to his suspension.
