Sri Lanka, Dec. 23 -- All train operations originating from Colombo Fort and Maradana railway stations are experiencing significant delays following a train derailment.

The Railway Department announced that an express train traveling from Colombo Fort to Mirigama, which departed at 9:30 a.m. today, derailed between the two major stations at approximately 9:35 a.m. Commuters are advised to expect disruptions on both the main and coastal lines as restoration work begins. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.
