Sri Lanka, July 28 -- The Locomotive Operating Engineers' Union has announced that its members will commence an island-wide strike from midnight tomorrow (29).

K.A.U. Konthasinghe, the President of the union, stated that the strike is being launched due to unresolved issues related to faulty signal systems and administrative issues.

He added that the strike would bring all train services across the island to a halt.
