Sri Lanka, April 24 -- The Railway Department announced a delay in train services on the main line from Colombo Fort to Kandy late last night (23).

This disruption is due to a train derailment that occurred near the Gampaha railway station.

Reports indicate that approximately five carriages of the affected train have come off the tracks.

A large number of passengers were on board at the time of the incident, causing significant inconvenience.

At present, there are no reports of injuries to passengers or the extent of damage to the train and the railway line.
