Sri Lanka, March 18 -- The Police Media Unit clarified that today's traffic congestion from Polduwa Junction to Model Farm Junction on Parliament Road was due to a private company's sudden withdrawal from managing the additional lane. The Western Province South Traffic Division manages traffic on this route, which sees about 16,000 vehicles daily.

To ease congestion, an extra lane from Polduwa Junction to Ayurveda Junction is usually marked using traffic cones by a private company contracted by the Road Development Authority. The company's contract expired yesterday, causing the disruption. The police have now restored the additional lane after resolving the issue.
