Sri Lanka, Feb. 8 -- Tourism earnings rose to US dollars 378.3 million in January 2026, up from US dollars 308.6 million in December 2025, reflecting stronger visitor spending at the start of the year.

Sri Lanka surpassed the 300,000 tourist arrivals milestone in early February, signalling a positive outlook for the tourism sector in 2026. Tourist arrivals for February up to the 4th stood at 40,450, bringing total arrivals for the year to 317,318.

However, tourism earnings in January 2026 remained below the US dollars 400.7 million recorded in January 2025, according to the Central Bank's weekly economic data.
