Sri Lanka, July 15 -- A Thai woman arrested for walking topless in the Arugam Bay tourist zone has been given a five-year suspended sentence by the Pottuvil Magistrate's Court after being produced before the court where she pleaded guilty.

The Pottuvil Magistrate's Court sentenced her to two weeks' imprisonment for indecent behaviour on a main road and one month for causing public disturbance, with both sentences suspended for five years.

The woman was arrested yesterday (14) after a photo of her walking topless to a hotel entrance in Arugam Bay circulated on social media.

Police stated she acted this way following an argument with her boyfriend.
