Sri Lanka, Oct. 16 -- The Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority has commenced fining bus conductors who fail to issue tickets and passengers who fail to obtain them in buses operating within the Western Province.
Conductors who violate this regulation will face a three-day suspension and a fine.
Passengers found without tickets in their possession will also be required to pay a fine.
The mandatory issuance of tickets on all passenger transport buses within the Western Province was implemented on October 01.
During the preceding 14-day grace period, the Authority inspected for proper ticket issuance and only issued warnings to both passengers without tickets and conductors not issuing them.
