Sri Lanka, March 18 -- The Department of Meteorology has warned of thunderstorms and strong lightning in several areas this afternoon and night.

Heavy showers with lightning are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and Uva provinces.

The public is advised to take precautions as temporarily strong winds may also occur during thunderstorms.
