Sri Lanka, Aug. 1 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued a statement forecasting that several areas of the island are likely to experience thundershowers or heavy lightning this afternoon or night.

The department specified that a high chance of such weather conditions exists in the Northern, North Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Hambantota district.

Additionally, the Department of Meteorology stated that some areas could receive fairly heavy rainfall, exceeding 75 millimeters.

The public is advised to take precautions against potential damages from lightning and localized strong winds.
