Sri Lanka, April 28 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for this evening, warning of likely thundershowers and severe lightning in several areas of the country.

The advisory specifically highlights the Eastern, Uva, Central, North-Central, Northern, and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Hambantota and Kurunegala districts, as being particularly susceptible.

Authorities also caution residents in these areas to be aware of the potential for temporary, localised strong winds that may accompany the thundershowers.

The Met Department strongly urges the public to take adequate precautions to minimise any potential damage that could be caused by the anticipated lightning activity.
