Sri Lanka, March 7 -- A sergeant and two constables attached to the Kollupitiya Police Station have been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from a female tourist.

The officers had reportedly demanded the money to avoid taking legal action against a stock of foreign cigarettes in her possession. However, the tourist's guide lodged a complaint with the Kollupitiya Police on the 5th, leading to their arrest.

The three officers are scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court today.
