Sri Lanka, April 23 -- Three persons, including a female suspect, have been arrested in connection with the murder of social activist Dan Priyasad.

Priyasad succumbed to his injuries this morning (23), after being shot at during a party held on the sixth floor at the 'Laksanda Sevana' apartment complex in Meethotamulla on Tuesday night (22).

Two unidentified gunmen, riding a motorcycle, opened fire before fleeing the scene, according to Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent Buddhika Manatunga.

The 39-year-old Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna candidate for the Kolonnawa Municipal Council was subsequently rushed to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, where initial reports mistakenly confirmed his death.
