SriLanka, Jan. 25 -- The Police Media Division has announced that a massive island-wide special operation conducted yesterday (24) resulted in the arrest of hundreds of individuals for various criminal and traffic offences.

During the high-intensity sweep, officers inspected a total of 29,659 individuals across the country.

The operation led to the apprehension of 11 suspects directly linked to criminal activities and 425 individuals who had outstanding warrants against them.

Additionally, police took into custody 571 suspects involved in the illegal trade of liquor and narcotics.

A major focus of the operation was road safety and the enforcement of traffic laws.
