Sri Lanka, Jan. 20 -- Construction for the third phase of the Baseline Road extension project will restart immediately following Cabinet approval.
The project, which faced temporary suspension due to the 2022 economic crisis, involves building a 0.86 km six-lane stretch.
This road will connect the Kirulapone junction to Dutugemunu Street on the Colombo-Horana Road.
The Cabinet originally sanctioned this project on November 11, 2009, but work stopped when large-scale development ventures were reprioritised during the financial downturn.
Reports indicate that 90% of the land acquisition required for the extension is already complete.
